Is Feldenkrais® a Fit for You?

Book a free consultation

Fifty-five minutes, in person at my Kirkland studio. We’ll talk about what hurts and what you’ve stopped doing, and I’ll watch how you move. We’ll do some work together, and you’ll feel the difference yourself.

At the end I’ll tell you whether I think I can help. Sometimes the answer is no, and I’ll say so.

Free, and there’s no obligation to book anything afterward.

Frequently asked questions

I’ve already tried physical therapy, massage, and chiropractic. How is this different?

In a Feldenkrais lesson you work on how the whole of you takes part in the movement. I spent two years in physical therapy for my hamstrings. My glutes got stronger, and on the racquetball court I went on overusing my hamstrings anyway, because the habit hadn’t changed. I’d encourage you to do whatever you find helpful, and many of my clients do both. The longer version is on the Feldenkrais therapy page.

Who is this not a fit for?

This is not a fit for someone who wants a quick fix. Learning to move differently takes time and attention, the same way learning an instrument or a sport does. You’ll learn something about how you move in every lesson, but we can’t know in advance how long it will take to get the results you want. If your pain is unexplained, see your doctor first. And if I don’t think I can help you, I’ll tell you at the consultation.

What happens in the consultation?

Typically, a consultation has a four-part structure:

  • What brought you here: I’ll ask about what’s bothering you, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to be able to do.
  • What I do: I’ll tell you about my work and how it might apply to your situation.
  • A taste: We’ll do some work together. Not a full lesson, but enough that you can feel what it’s like.
  • Logistics: If we both think it’s a fit at the end, we’ll talk about how we’d work together.
What should I wear?

Something you can move and lie down in, e.g., what you’d wear to a gym or on a hike. Skip anything tight or formal, and leave off jewelry that digs in when you’re lying down. You stay fully clothed the whole time.

Where’s the studio, and where do I park?

The studio is at 12810 NE 64th Street, Kirkland, WA 98033. There’s free parking on the property.

What happens after I book?

You’ll answer a few questions when you book, about what you’re dealing with and what you want to be able to do, so I can read them before you arrive. You’ll get a confirmation email with the address, a map link, and calendar links. If you need to change the time, use the Cancel/Reschedule link in that email or call me at 425-202-5685.
