Emphathy

Check out this wonderful video from Brene Brown: Brene spoke at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts and a part of her talk was animated by Katy Davis. Two of my favorite lines are:
  • Rarely if ever does an empathetic response start with “at least”… For example: “I had a miscarriage,” “Well, at least, you know you can get pregnant.”
  • Rarely does a response make something better.  What makes something better is connection.
These are wise words.

Laura Yedwab is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM (GCFPCM) at Kinetic Inquiry, her studio in Kirkland, Washington. She completed an 800-hour Feldenkrais® training and has done more than 1,500 hours of continuing education since. Laura helped design and staffed several multi-year programs, including the Feldenkrais Training Academy in Seattle (2018–2022). Before this work, she spent 20 years in tech, including as a Group Manager at Microsoft, and she holds a master's degree in computer science from MIT. She writes about the movement habits she sees in her studio and the options people find once they notice them.
