Brene spoke at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts and a part of her talk was animated by Katy Davis. Two of my favorite lines are:
- Rarely if ever does an empathetic response start with “at least”… For example: “I had a miscarriage,” “Well, at least, you know you can get pregnant.”
- Rarely does a response make something better. What makes something better is connection.
These are wise words.
